    Solos, Duos, Trios, Small & Large Groups to compete & win!

    Freestyle Battles for parents and dancers of all levels to follow the competition.

    Performance Genre

    That’s right folks - just one genre! Commercial Hip Hop (or New School) is welcome but versatility is encouraged (i.e. street jazz, house, funk styles, etc).

    Music

    All music must be clean, edited and appropriate for audiences of all ages. Music must be submitted via email at least 1 week prior to the event for pre-approval. All backup CDs must be turned in to the Monsters A-List desk no later than 9:00PM Friday evening.

     

    *$10 late penalty fee charged if music is not submitted on time.

    Style/Technique | 25 points

    Staging/Formations | 25 points

    Choreography/Musicality | 25 points

    Overall Impression (appearance, performance, crowd appeal) | 25 points

    Keep It Clean

    At Monsters events we appreciate the wide range of personal expression and creativity offered by different styles and choreography. While we do not wish to stifle anyone’s artistic voice, Monsters A-List is a family event and inappropriate routines will be penalized. A total of 10 points will be deducted from any routine that the judges find not to be "family friendly.” Disqualification is at the Judges' discretion.

    Admission

    Admission to watch the A-List competition is FREE. Fees apply to compete.

    Competition Rules & Regulations

    All competing dancers must be registered for the entire workshop.

     

    Entry Fees are non-refundable, no exceptions. All competing dancers receive a Monsters A-List participation pin and professional feedback from our Judges.

     

    Cash, money orders, business checks and credit cards will be accepted for your competition and/or convention registration. No personal checks, please. All payments must be received 14 days prior to the event.

  • AWARDS

    Placement Awards

    We are bringing REAL competition back. While all routines will be judged and given feedback from our distinguished panel of judges, only the top 3 in each category and age division will receive placement awards. The 3 highest scoring routines overall will be awarded a cash prize.

    Outstanding Choreography Award

    This award recognizes the competition’s most creative and versatile choreographer. These routines will be entered into an end-of-year voting contest to be selected for grand prize! 

    Judges' Choice Entertainment Award

    The most entertaining or show-stopping routine of the entire competition will be awarded the Entertainment Award and given the opportunity to perform in our closing show on Sunday. Announcement will be made Saturday night at conclusion of competition.

    A-Game Agency Award

    Awarded to individuals who demonstrate strong potential as a professional dancer. Award provides introduction to and interview with one or more of the following agencies: CTG, MTA, GTA, MSA, BLOC

    Freestyle Battles

    The ability to freestyle is an important part of being a successful dancer, so we're giving you the opportunity to practice this skill in front of our Faculty Judges! Dancers will dance to music provided by our DJ and rounds will be decided by our Judges. Cash prizes awarded per level.

  • MONSTERS A-LIST FACULTY

    WHAT MAKES OUR A-LIST FACULTY UNIQUE?

     

    Since 2005, over one hundred hand-selected dancers have performed in our annual live Los Angeles show. Developing their talents and experience through a rigorous training process, these dancers prove they can accomplish their dreams and tackle any job in the industry.

     

    Monsters Dance Alumni have gone on to become some of the most respected and renowned dancers and choreographers in the business.

     

    Our Monsters A-List Faculty are Alumni who have proven themselves as professional instructors and choreographers. They choreograph, creative direct, and perform with some of the biggest artists in the business, including Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and many more! Our Alumni Faculty are also responsible for booking dancers for these industry jobs, carrying on Monsters' mission of giving dancers real opportunities.

     

    Faculty for A-List events will vary for each event, announced up to four weeks prior to the convention and competition weekend.
